Everybody loves Popeye
Back in 1947 Sweden only had one comic book: Karl-Alfred (Popeye).
Here's a rare, and pretty off model, ad from that year. Enjoy!

Peggy's Flower Plot
Well, now you do. And for the record: she was paid $10 for it.
And while I'm at it: Here's Barks original script to the Scrooge one pager in US 39.

Influence map
Thought it was about time I did one of these.
No surprises there, eh.
Here's a who-is-who:
Want to do one of your own?
Here's a link: Influence Map Template PS. That John Romita JR panel really should read: John Romita JR & Al Williamson. Those two made great team on Daredevil for quite some time.

Jim Schell
Just got the news from Craig Lane that cartoonist Jim Schell passed away January 6, one month short of his 95th birthday. His obituary can be found in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
I posted a few of his cartoons back in 2010. That post can be found by clicking HERE.
I was lucky to get a signed copy of "Occupation Outbursts" from him back then. A real gem that I treasure.
/Joakim.

Posthumous Barks
Got a mail earlier today regarding the posthumous Barks stories that has seen print lately. And since it's been awhile I touched the subject, here's something from the Barks folders I have.
In May 2012 the 6 page story "Outcunning the Canines" was published in Europe. Daan Jippes drew and scripted the main part of the story, using a script from one of the folders as a starting point.
Originally this was only supposed to be a one pager, but Daan felt it could be fleshed out to a longer story. And why not? Daan wrote the first five pages and the Barks gag was rewritten to fit at the end of the story.
But some of you might want to see the original script that Barks wrote, right?
Well, here it is. :)
And while I'm at it: Here's a slightly retouched version of the final page. Edited to fit Barks original script. Enjoy!
