Just to get your brain cells working: Name the strip and the cartoonist behind this drawing. The name of the strip should not be too hard to figure out. But the cartoonists name might be tricky.
Right! MC helped Bill Dwyer, drawing female characters in later DUMB DORA.
But, as Dwyer style was sort of similar to George Storm's humoristic one, females by Caniff were his tipical Russellpattersonian girls, a little bit more realistic then this.
When the strip started (by Chic Young) Dora was identical to an early Blondie with a black Louise Brooks hairstyle.
This panel (that remembers a little posterior BLONDIE style), with a curly haired Dora is tipical Fung (that ghosted BLONDIE too)
Dumb Dora by Paul Fung is absolutely right. :) As you might have noticed I named the file "Dumb question" and she's saying "aDORAble!" just to make it really easy for you. :)
I only have one original Fung daily and one month of strips. Both from January 1932, but I'm looking for more.
I have a hunch.
ReplyDeleteNot trying to spoil the question too much, I answer by just giving the birth and death date of my guess:
28/2/1907 - 3/5/1988
That is, the birth and death date of the cartoonist, not of the strip.
ReplyDeleteNope!
ReplyDeleteBut it was a good guess.
It's the right strip, but not the right year for the artist you suggested.
If I'm not dumb is DUMB DORA by Paul Fung

OK, my guess was Milton Caniff, from his ghost run at the same title, but that was apparently wrong.

Ahhh, I didn't think about that, but I saw that the image was named "dumb"...
ReplyDeleteOr, disregard my last comment, I read your reply too sloppy...
