Here are a few photos of Walt Disney I recently scanned.
Some are common, some are not.
First we have an image that was used when reporting about Walts death. Published in Europe in early 1967.
This one is nicer. Date unknown. (But I guess that guys like Mike Barrier and Didier Ghez will have no trouble to spot when and where it was taken.)
Two "classic" images of Walt and Mickey:
And to round off this post, a seldom seen photo from 1960 featuring Walt and Christina Blomquist. (Daughter of Sten Blomquist at Mickey Mouse Corporation in Stockholm.)
[Edit: Got the year from the back of the photo. Researcher Simon Bülow tells me he's seen a similar photo in newspaper Dagens Nyheter 1959. So that's more likely to be the right year.)
And, oh, I promised you a Ward too.
So here he is.
Ward with an aWard!
Walt Disney and his family: This photo was probably taken on board Queen Elizabeth in 1949.
ReplyDeleteWalt Disney in Sweden !!! I had never heard about this trip. Do you have any further information on this, Joakim ?
I don't but maybe researcher extraordinaire; Simon Bülow can fill us in here regarding Walt's trip to Sweden?
ReplyDeleteSimon: if you read this feel free to comment. :)
Okey, here's my comment. :)
ReplyDeleteHe made his first, and maybe only, visit to Sweden/Stockholm in 1959, welcomed publicly at Stockholm-Bromma Airport July the 1st. The photo above is quite similar to the one in Dagens Nyheter of the 2nd July (same clothes, girl and bouquet). He stayed around three or five days, according to statements from the press conference held at Hotell Foresta on Lidingö the same day, there he participated in this photo session:

Most exciting: He met the famous film director Ingmar Bergman at the film studios in Råsunda (northern Stockholm) one of these days. It even excist a newsreel of that very moment, shown in the documentary "Filmen om Filmstaden" (2002). I have a snap shot – maybe something for a follow-up blog post on the topic, Joakim?
Thanks for your very interesting information, Simon !
