A "new" Russell Patterson painting

Here's something you don't see every day. An unpublished painting by Russell Patterson!
I had never seen or heard about this piece before. But thanks to the owner, Claude Elenewich, I'm happy to show it here on the blog. Thanks, Claude!

Peg-Leg Pete

Walked past a building on Flower Street in Glendale last Monday.
Seems to be a Peg-Leg Pete fan working there. :-)

Rare Rabbit

Cough, cough! Home with a cold and feeling all dizzy.
Trying to organize all the files that has been piling up on my desktop into proper folders.
While doing that I found this piece.

It looks like a try-out strip for a never produced daily version of Brer Rabbit/Uncle Remus/Song of the south.
The Uncle Remus sunday page began in 1945 and the contents of this strip is similar to the events in the first of those. See image below. So I assume that this strip was made around that time.

The Tenggren Book

Just got my copy of the brand new book on Gustaf Tenggren by Lars Emanuelsson and Oskar Ekman! It's one thick brick of a book. 280 pages!
It chronicles Tenggrens life and features an enormous amount of artwork from his entire career. Lots of stuff I never have seen before. I have yet to read the book, but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm and show you a few spreads from it. As you can see, even if you don't understand a word Swedish you'll want this for the images.

For more info on Tenggren and his art, check out the Tenggren blog!

What's up?

Notice how slow everything is here.
Updates are far and few between. Why?
I'm currently drawing a graphic novel written by Mårten Melin. And as I'm on a leave of absence from my regular work until next summer I have to finish the book before that. Much is already drawn, but it will still take a few months to finish it up. And I still do Nils the Cat so there's plenty of stuff to be done.
Just in case you wondered.

Kalle Anka 1962

Today we have a rare gem here at the blog: a Swedish Donald Duck giveaway from 1962. A special publication to attract companies to buy ad space in the Swedish DD weekly. Few fans have actually seen what's inside this one, so it's my pleasure to show it here. Enjoy!

Rare Moomin

Just found this Moomin artwork. I've never seen it before, so I guess it's pretty rare? It was a loose supplement to an issue of Lajban (a Swedish paper for kids) in 1970. Guess most of these were cut up and played with back in the days, so I'm thankful that at least one kid ditn't bother to play with it. :-)  Signed by both Tove and Lars. Enjoy!

Snow Fake

Hmm...
Just caught this on-line. Its estimated to fetch 1 200,00 - 1 600,00 USD. The auction house has just closed it's website bidding so it's too late to do something about it, besides posting the image below.

"Original Concept Art for Christmas Card, 1938 titled "Snow White, The Seven Dwarfs and Forest Animals. Image approx. 9" x 6". Comes with COA from Great American Ink"

Just compare with the real deal, drawn by Fred Moore.  (Image taken from Andreas Deja's site: Deja View.)

Roy Rogers by Toth

Here's a gem that I picked up recently. A 1961 Roy Rogers sunday page drawn by Alex Toth!
Enjoy!

Question: How many sundays did Toth ghost for Mike Arens? Would love to see the rest.

Want to see the dailies he ghosted? Check them out by clicking HERE!
Thanks Ger!
