Keaton, Eisenstein and Disney
Saw this piece on eBay a while ago. Four Mickey illustrations in a frame.
Seller writes: "Drawn and stamped by the Disney studios vintage 1930's exclusively for Buster Keaton and personally signed by Walt Disney."
I wrote to the seller who said "We took our piece to Disney Corporate in Burbank to the Archive Records Division and they have confirmed that it is a piece that Walt signed for from illustration to have for his personal use as a gift."
Well...
It's simply a bad tracing of the Mickey Mouse daily from 2-21, 1930.
And I've told the seller so.
Do the seller write that information in the description after re-listing it? No.
I wonder why...
And they want $15.000 for it.
Good luck selling it! There are suckers out there. You might just catch one.

Same, same, but different
I was reading two different, old issues of Kalle Anka & C:o recently.
Nice reading while having a lazy day in the countryside.
But... two of the stories were not that different. Hmm...
Why use a good plot once if you can do it twice. ;-)
Stories from WDC 166 (1954) and Scamp 16 (1960).
The Pluto story was written by Don Christensen and the Scamp story was probably a re-write by someone else.

The Housemaid's Knee
This piece was auctioned last sunday on Heritage.
The description reads: " Donald Duck Partially Inked Daily Comic Strip Original Art (King Features Syndicate, undated)"
Well...
It's quite obvious that this is a badly traced strip, partially inked by an amateur. Not an unfinished KFS strip. Still, someone paid ca $155 for it!
Not a forgery, but not the real deal and practiacally worthless.
The real February 4, 1955 daily can be seen here: http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=YD+55-02-04

Peg-Leg Pete
Walked past a building on Flower Street in Glendale last Monday.
Seems to be a Peg-Leg Pete fan working there. :-)

Rare Rabbit
Cough, cough! Home with a cold and feeling all dizzy.
Trying to organize all the files that has been piling up on my desktop into proper folders.
While doing that I found this piece.
It looks like a try-out strip for a never produced daily version of Brer Rabbit/Uncle Remus/Song of the south.
The Uncle Remus sunday page began in 1945 and the contents of this strip is similar to the events in the first of those. See image below. So I assume that this strip was made around that time.
Also: Check out the Pictorial Review cover featuring Brer Rabbit and friends over at the DHI Facebook page by clicking HERE.

Kalle Anka 1962
Today we have a rare gem here at the blog: a Swedish Donald Duck giveaway from 1962. A special publication to attract companies to buy ad space in the Swedish DD weekly. Few fans have actually seen what's inside this one, so it's my pleasure to show it here. Enjoy!
