Nils the Cat in B&B 199!

Frequent visitors may have noticed the lack of regular updates the past ...um... year or two...
I havn't been lazy if that's what you think. No, no, no.
I've actually been writing and drawing comics more than before. One of the regular things I do is Nils the Cat (Katten Nils) togheter with my colleauge Johanna Kristiansson. Recently we were asked to do the cover for Bild & Bubbla #199, and last week it arrived!
If you can read Swedish and are interested in comics for kids this issue is something for you.

BTW: Here's my original inking for the cover, before we colored it.

Comics exhibition in Gagnef

If you happen to be near Gagnef, Sweden this summer you should visit the Ottilia Adelborg museum.
Why? There's a comic exhibition there showing some of the current Swedish comics made for kids. You'll be seeing finished original art, pencils, rough idea sketches etc.
All lent to the exhibition by the following creators: Annika Giannini (Tivoli), Hedvig Häggman-Sund & Adam Blomgren (Bamse), Joakim Lindengren (Strumpmysteriet), Johanna Kristiansson & Joakim Gunnarsson (Katten Nils), Lena Furberg (Mulle), Lisa Sjöblom & Richey Wyver (Tails from the Burrow), Natalia Batista (Mjau!), Sara Olausson (Loranga), Susanne Fredelius (Doris), Tina Landgren (Helmet Girl), Yokaj Studio (Teckna manga).


The exhibition is presented by Gagnef kommun and the comic book Tivoli. It's open June 19 to August 15.

You've probably noticed the absence of posts here. We are gearing up for the comics festival ISV that is coming up this weekend. So much to do and so little time to blog. But next week!!! Then everything hopefully will be back to normal.
Now, back to printing home made comic books in the studio...

Two drawings and a strip

Having been very busy with work the past week. And I'm still swamped with stuff to do. Feels like all work and no play.
And today I'm just mad at Winsor & Newton for not making good brushes. Bought two and one split within 10 seconds. The other acts weird and drives me mad, mad, mad. Frustrating to have a deadline and only working with tools that makes your work look like junk... Groan...

Found some black and white pieces I did a few weeks ago that I had meant to upload but forgot about.
So here they are:
The first is just an attempt at drawing in a different style.

This is Morris from "Nils the Cat". Done with brush instead of with a nib, as I usually use for the cats.

And here is one attempt at drawing a "Nils the Cat" strip all by myself. I'm usually just writing and inking the strip (With Johanna K. doing the pencils.) but I did this one for fun. You can tell that I'm not the regular artist since I'm pretty much off model on every pose. But still... It was fun to do. :)

We had a hangover breakfast at my flat this morning and I was given this drawing of me toghether with Nils the Cat. :) (Nils is the yellow fat one to the right.) It's drawn by one of swedens most well known manga artists: Åsa Ekström.
Just wanted to share it.

Update

It's been a week since last post.
I've just been too busy (and I still am) to sit down and write something. But here are some recent "Emma & Sara" panels from the continuity we are doing now.



Any publisher out there that would like to do something with a backlog of 8 years of "Emma & Sara" material? I'm open for suggestions...


And don't forget the bookfair in Gothenburg later this month! I'll be there drawing Nils the Cat togheter with my colleauge Johanna in booth F01:14. I'll be there friday, saturday and sunday. Stop by and say hello and don't be ashamed to ask for a drawing. :)
