Just picked up a large batch of Scorchy Smith dailies from the early 40's. Artwork by Frank Robbins! Not as polished as it would be later in the 40's, but it's interesting to see his development as an artist these years. Just thought I should share some samples.
And if any serious publisher needs dailies from 1940-43 to scan for a Robbins Scorchy book, just let me know and I'll be happy to loan you my set!

Did you know Big Fun is up to it's fourth Robbin's Scorchy book now? I only have #7, not #8, 9 and 10!
Yes, but unfortunately the Scorchy dailies by Robbins in the later volumes are taken from microfilm. OK to read on line but too low res to be good in print, IMO. Didn't know about vol 10. I should pick it up anyway. Better than not having them at all.
I have the original artwork for the fifth strip here (September 1, 1943). Might you venture an opinion as to what it is worth?
John: Happy to hear that the strip has survived all these years. Myself I have three old Scorchy dailies by Robbins. And I love them. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=581046
Since there's no Scorchy in your daily it might be less attractive to some collectors. But... you have a femme fatale and lots of moody shadows! Those elements are always a + in my book! So, I'd say a few hundred dollars. But it's always hard to say without seeing the condition of the original. More if it's "like new" and less if yellowed and soiled. Hope this helps.
