Hmm ...
Do I have something to post here on Halloween?
-- Digging through files. --
Nope, nothing ...

Friend Karl-Erik Lindkvist to the rescue!
He just mailed me a set of step-by-step images of a recently comissioned Bill Galvan drawing of Sabrina as Elvira. Enjoy!

PS. Check out Karl-Erik's Comicartfans gallery for more original art by Archie artists. And if you liked this post my advice for you is to begin by clicking HERE.

I'm looking for a nice page of original art from John Romita Jr's and Al Williamson's run on Daredevil. If you have the page below (from DD256) or any other page by that team for sale, please let me know. Thanx!

Lundin Land of Black Gold

Fans of Tintin might want to pick up a copy if this weeks issue of affärsvärlden.

The cover is, of course, paraphrasing the cover to "Tintin au pays de l'or noir" and is drawn by Hedvig
I love the concept (Tintin – Lundin) so whoever came up with the idea at affärsvärlden: Well done!!!

Godwin in Liberty

Now, browsing through old magazines will more often than not result in a surprise or two. As the case of the Hubert Mathieu illustration in the previous post.
I originally picked up that issue of Liberty on eBay because of the striking cover.

I just couldn't resist scanning both the front and the back...

The second surprise in that issue was three Frank Godwin illustrations.
They illustrated the seventh part of Erle Stanley Garner's Perry Mason story "The Case of the Howling Dog". And here they are. Enjoy!

The Hunter

A beautiful li'l illustration to John Erskines "The Hunter",
located in the back of Liberty Magazine Feb 24, 1934.

I wonder who the artist is.
Would love to see more.

Update: Both these listings were ended early. "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available." Either the seller saw this post or found a buyer who forked up a large amount of money...
His account (jnhcollectibles) at webstore.com has been closed. Seems that he sold mostly Peanuts forgeries there.
But he's still active at onlineauction.com with his Barks and Schulz forgeries. Check 'em out!

"Redwoodangels13" continue to amaze me with his bad forgeries on eBay. And this time is no exception.
Take a look at this "Barks" piece.
I guess you see the same as I do?
This time he's trying to auction something as a Barks sketch that wasn't even drawn by Barks to begin with. Redwoodangels13 probably browsed Heritage auctions and found lot 44042, the poster from Walt Disney's Comics and stories #357, drawn by Larry Mayer. It's a version of the cover to  Uncle Scrooge 19.
Ho and hum.
The Mayer version sold for $2629 at Heritage. Let's see how much this one goes for.
(You can find a post about the Heritage mistake HERE. )
Currently 4 bids $ 60.89

PS. Redwoodangels13 is most likely the same person as solixirgreen aka sohocollectibles2012 aka Jamaal Hill aka J.N.H. Collectibles. (Probably also: blenheim, hollyschweiger, chickensoup, oichechiuin, nodogsallowed, Bpmsgog and cosmogirl. Aliases used to raise bids.)
And read the "Our Sales Practice" on the JNH website...
BTW:  HERE he sold the above Scrooge image to himself...

Update: The seller is showing more and more greed. Here's his latest auction.
Currently 7 bids $112.50

Looks like our redwoodangel found lot 92039 in the Heritage archive ...

The full version of the Spirou story by Danier & Yann is now available on InediSpirou!
Great news indeed. :)

Update Oct 10: Added two more fakes below the first three!

Well, then stay away from these...

Fake 1
The above "Carl Barks signed Scrooge McDuck sketch" sold for $501.99 on eBay.
Money that could have been spent wiser...

Fake 2

Fake 3

Fake 4

The above drawing is currently on eBay.
4 bids at $3.25. Will it reach $4? :)
Update: Sold for US $224.50.

Well, blow me down!
Just saw that the same seller,  redwoodangels13,  sold the drawing below for $183.50!!!
There sure are suckers out there...

(The sites where these items are sold can be reached by clicking "Fake 1" etc)

Muppets, ahoy!

Any Muppets fans out there? I bet there is. :)
Bill Peckmann just sent me a batch of illustrations that I thought you might enjoy seeing.
It's his artwork for the Muppet movie "Treasure Island" merchandising style guide. "These were done flying blind, because the film hadn't even gone into pre production yet." Bill says.

Guardians of the Lost Scrooge Panels

Public service time again.
Here are the original versions of two pages ( 6 and 13)  from "Guardians of the Lost Library", not included in the recently published Don Rosa collection in Scandinavia. Thought that some of you might be interested in seeing what these pages looked like, before they were edited.

In case you wonder: The fifth panel on page 13 was moved to the third row of panels on page 15, and another panel was added after that to make up for the cut one.
